The stronger domestic contribution changed the quarterly sales mix. Domestic business accounted for 58 per cent of Q2 revenue, compared with 51 per cent a year earlier, while exports contributed 42 per cent.
Concord Biotech is seeking to rebuild growth after customer inventory corrections, regulatory delays and pricing pressure weighed on its FY26 performance. The fermentation-based active pharmaceutical ingredient and formulations manufacturer has now reported a stronger Q2FY27, with consolidated revenue from operations rising 25.1 per cent YoY to Rs 309.1 crore.
Earnings before interest, Tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, increased 18 per cent to Rs 104.4 crore, while profit after tax, or PAT, rose 10.3 per cent to Rs 69.6 crore. The revenue growth was supported by both domestic and export markets, although domestic sales were the larger driver. Domestic revenue climbed 42 per cent to Rs 178.7 crore, while exports rose 8 per cent to Rs 130.4 crore.
The stronger domestic contribution changed the quarterly sales mix. Domestic business accounted for 58 per cent of Q2 revenue, compared with 51 per cent a year earlier, while exports contributed 42 per cent. For the first half of FY27, consolidated revenue rose 25.6 per cent YoY to Rs 566.6 crore and PAT increased 19.0 per cent to Rs 127.3 crore.
Profitability, however, did not keep pace with sales growth. Quarterly gross profit margin declined by 400 basis points to 76.2 per cent, while EBITDA margin fell to 33.8 per cent from 35.8 per cent. PAT margin declined to 22.5 per cent from 25.5 per cent. The company attributed the moderation to higher input costs and changes in product mix.
During the quarter, Concord launched Inspira, its dermatology division, and received product approvals for Tofacitinib and MMF OS. It also completed a United States Food and Drug Administration inspection at its Unit II formulations facility in Valthera, Ahmedabad, with one minor procedural observation unrelated to good manufacturing practices. The company said it is pursuing higher wallet share with existing customers, new product additions and new customer relationships. Its board has also approved a 1:1 Bonus share issue. The company’s Board of Directors, at its meeting on October 27, 2026, approved November 4, 2026, as the record date for its proposed 1:1 bonus issue. This means eligible shareholders will receive one additional equity share for every fully paid-up equity share they hold, subject to the necessary statutory and regulatory approvals.
As of 9:50 am on October 30, 2026, Concord Biotech shares were trading at Rs 1,230.00. The stock was broadly unchanged during the day and remained about 22.4 per cent below its 52-week high of Rs 1,585.10. Over one year, the stock has declined 19.48 per cent, compared with an 8.63 per cent decline in the BSE 500. The company’s market capitalisation stood at about Rs 12,866.8 crore.
What This Means for Investors
The quarter supports the view that Concord’s core active pharmaceutical ingredient franchise is regaining momentum, with domestic growth complementing export sales. Product approvals, regulatory compliance and a broader customer pipeline can support market access and future formulation sales. The Inspira launch also adds a domestic formulations platform, though its commercial contribution will depend on execution and distribution build-out.
The key qualification is margin delivery. Revenue increased faster than EBITDA and PAT as raw-material costs and product mix reduced gross and operating margins. This makes the sustainability of price-led wallet-share gains and the pace of mix improvement important to monitor. The injectable facility, United States formulation platform Stellon Biotech and fermentation-based contract development and manufacturing business remain potential medium-term growth drivers, but their ramp-up is still developing. At 45.55 times trailing twelve-month earnings, the valuation continues to place importance on sustained growth, margin recovery and timely commercialisation of newer platforms.
