LG Electronics India Crosses Major Milestone: What’s Driving the Surge?

Company records fastest ever start to a summer season in India; Sri City plant expansion underway.

LG Electronics India shares closed at Rs 1,318.80 on April 2, 2026, down 4.90 per cent for the session. The stock opened at Rs 1,385.00, touched an Intraday high of Rs 1,385.00, and held a low of Rs 1,304.10 during the day.

LG Electronics India has announced the sale of over 1 million air conditioners in the first quarter of CY26, marking the fastest and strongest start to a summer season in the company's history in India. The milestone was announced on April 2, 2026. The achievement was driven by LG India's decision to launch its BEE star-rated compliant AC line-up ahead of the season, ensuring retail partners and consumers could transition to energy-efficient products without disruption. The company's marketing campaign during the ICC World Cup also contributed to wider consumer reach and brand engagement during the quarter.

LG India significantly broadened its AC portfolio during the quarter. The newly introduced 0.8 ton AC under its Essential Series targets first-time buyers and compact urban spaces, while the 2.5 ton range caters to the premium home segment. The company also introduced a comprehensive fixed-speed AC portfolio covering both window and split segments, ensuring coverage across every price tier.

The 2026 AC range comes with several features designed for Indian conditions. PreCool allows users to activate cooling remotely before arriving home. HimClean is an internal auto-cleaning technology designed for sustained performance in high-dust and high-humidity environments. Energy Manager Plus gives consumers real-time visibility over power consumption, which the company says directly addresses one of the key barriers to AC adoption in India. The Government of India's GST reduction on air conditioners from 28 per cent to 18 per cent has also supported the industry's growth by improving affordability and accelerating adoption of energy-efficient cooling products across urban and semi-urban markets.

LG India also exports its Made-in-India ACs to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, and markets across Southeast Asia. The company has announced plans to scale up AC production through its upcoming Sri City manufacturing facility this year to cater to rising demand.

Management Commentary
Hong Ju Jeon, Managing Director of LG Electronics India, said that crossing 1 million AC sales in a single quarter is not just a commercial milestone but a reflection of the trust millions of Indian consumers place in the brand. He added that India is one of LG's most strategically vital markets globally and that the company is investing heavily in innovation, distribution, localisation, and expanding its AC manufacturing facility in Sri City in line with the Make in India initiative.

Sanjay Chitkara, Director and Co-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, said the company is focused on delivering advanced, energy-efficient cooling solutions tailored for both domestic and global consumers. He added that the premium AC range with Energy Manager Plus and better capacities caters to diverse needs across segments, and that the company anticipates stronger demand in Q2 of CY2026, supported by the GST reduction on ACs.
