Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited (SMIORE) has received a final key regulatory approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India.
The approval, dated October 3, 2025, was granted under Section 2(1)(ii) of the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhanam) Adhiniyam, 1980. It pertains to the diversion of 2.4314 hectares of forest land to facilitate the establishment of a Downhill Conveyor Pipe System (DCS).
The DCS is designed to connect the Kammathuru Iron Ore Mine (ML No. 2678, Old No. 2580/1179) to the PMBR (BMM) siding. The forest land involved is located in the Deogiri Swamimalai Forest Block, Sandur Taluk, Bellari District, Karnataka.
SMIORE stated that the approval comes with certain conditions outlined in the official letter. Following this, the Company will approach the Department of Forests & Environment, Government of Karnataka, to execute the Forest Lease Agreement as per applicable provisions.

The latest available Quarterly Results for Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited are for the quarter ended June 31, 2025. The company reported a total income of Rs 1,135 crore, a significant increase compared to the Rs 602 crore in the same previous quarter. The net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 144 crore, also a substantial rise from the Rs 167 crore reported in the June 2025 quarter.
Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Limited is primarily involved in the mining of manganese and iron ores in the Hosapete-Ballari region of Karnataka. They are one of the largest private-sector miners of low-phosphorous manganese ore in India, which is essential for the production of ferroalloys and steel. Additionally, the company operates a ferroalloy plant producing silico-manganese and ferro-manganese, as well as a coke and energy plant located in Vyasankere, near Hospet.
