Tata Power reported steady growth across its core businesses in Q1 FY27, announced its highest-ever quarterly capital expenditure, and approved raising up to Rs 4,500 crore through non-convertible debentures

Amid the subdued market sentiment, Tata-power-company-ltd-100400">Tata Power Company share price declined 1.06 per cent to Rs 373.35 after the company announced its Q1 FY27 financial results and approved a Debt Fundraising plan.

Tata Power Q1 FY27 Financial Performance

On a consolidated basis, Tata Power reported revenue of Rs 18,898 crore in Q1 FY27, up 8 per cent YoY from Rs 17,464 crore. EBITDA increased 8 per cent YoY to Rs 4,249 crore, while reported PAT rose 11 per cent YoY to Rs 1,401 crore, compared with Rs 1,262 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The company stated that its Generation, Transmission & Distribution, and Renewables businesses continued to deliver strong operational performance, with the core business reporting 12 per cent revenue growth, 12 per cent EBITDA growth and 14 per cent PAT growth during the quarter. 

The Renewables business recorded a 15 per cent YoY increase in PAT to Rs 612 crore, while the Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing business reported 3.9 times YoY growth in PAT to Rs 371 crore. Rooftop Solar PAT increased 1.7 times YoY to Rs 145 crore, supported by higher adoption and nationwide execution.

Highest-Ever Quarterly CapEx and Growth Initiatives

Tata Power deployed its highest-ever quarterly capital expenditure of Rs 5,375 crore during Q1 FY27 to accelerate renewable energy, transmission infrastructure and manufacturing expansion. The company currently has a 12 GW renewable portfolio, including 6.7 GW operational capacity and 5.3 GW under implementation.

During the quarter, TP Solar achieved its highest-ever quarterly production with 1,001 MW of solar modules and 862 MW of solar cells. The company is also progressing with the development of a 10 GW photovoltaic ingot and wafer manufacturing facility, to be implemented in two phases of 5 GW each, after signing an MoU for 128 acres of land at Gopalpur SEZ.

The company also secured a Letter of Award from SECI for supplying 324 MW from its 1,000 MW Bhivpuri Pumped Hydro Storage Project for 40 years, expanded its transmission portfolio to 7,894 circuit kilometres, and increased its EV charging network to over 7,000 charging points across 717 cities and towns.

Board Approves Rs 4,500 Crore NCD Issue

Separately, the Board approved the issuance of non-convertible debentures (NCDs), bonds and other debt securities of up to Rs 4,500 crore through one or more private placement tranches. The company said the proceeds will primarily be utilised for the refinancing of existing borrowings, within the limits approved by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on July 4, 2025.
