Nifty 50 began lower at 18,752.4 on Friday, compared to the previous day's close of 18,812.5. This was due to flat to negative global trends. Leading Wall Street indices concluded neutral on Thursday, as all eyes are now on nonfarm payrolls, unemployment, and hourly wages data.

In overnight trade, Nasdaq Composite gained 0.13 per cent, Dow Jones fell 0.56 per cent, and S&P 500 dipped 0.09 per cent. Asian counterparts are trading lower on Friday, mirroring global trends.

Nifty 50 was trading at 18,699.4 at 11:16 a.m., down 113.1 points or 0.6 per cent. Broader market indices outpaced frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index gained 0.58 per cent and the Nifty Small-Cap 100 index ascended 0.34 per cent.

On the BSE, market breadth was relatively positive, with 1902 stocks rising, 1325 falling, and 167 holding unchanged. The top-performing sectors include PSU banks, realty, metals, and media, whereas sectors like banking, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and the automobile are under some selling pressure.

According to December 1 statistics, FIIs were net sellers while DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) sold Rs 1,565.93 crore worth of shares. Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 2,664.98 crore.
