Varun Beverages Share Price Declines After Results; Company Declares Dividend

Varun Beverages posted consolidated revenue of Rs 6,815.59 crore and net profit of Rs 830.59 crore for the September quarter, while expanding its African platform and declaring an interim dividend.

Varun Beverages, PepsiCo’s key bottling and distribution partner across India and several overseas markets, is extending its manufacturing and route-to-market presence in Africa while broadening its beverage portfolio. The company reported consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 6,815.59 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up 33.3 per cent YoY, and declared a third interim Dividend of Rs 0.50 per equity share.

Consolidated profit after Tax (PAT) rose 13.5 per cent to Rs 830.59 crore from Rs 731.51 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The increase in profit lagged revenue growth, reflecting a higher cost base as the group expanded operations and absorbed depreciation, distribution and acquisition-related operating requirements. Total expenses for the quarter stood at Rs 5,880.55 crore, including material costs of Rs 2,909.62 crore, depreciation and amortisation of Rs 419.98 crore, and finance costs of Rs 71.69 crore.

Total income increased to Rs 6,935.45 crore from Rs 5,260 crore, while profit before tax rose to Rs 1,052.62 crore from Rs 927.23 crore. For the nine months ended September 30, consolidated revenue grew 23.6 per cent YoY to Rs 22,371.24 crore and PAT increased 15.5 per cent to Rs 3,202.30 crore.

The comparative figures have been restated after VBL Industries Kenya acquired the business of Devyani Food Industries Kenya for USD 32 million, equivalent to Rs 305 crore, effective August 1, 2026. The transaction was treated as a business combination under common control. The Kenyan platform adds local operating infrastructure that can support the company’s plans in carbonated soft drinks and energy drinks.

The board fixed November 5, 2026, as the record date for the dividend, which will be paid from November 7. Based on the current paid-up share capital, the payout works out to about Rs 169 crore. Separately, the group has incorporated KIVA Spirits and Company as a wholly owned subsidiary for ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages and allied products. Its Zimbabwe operation has also secured exclusive distribution rights for Mondelez confectionery, biscuit, candy and gum products in the country from October 1.

As of 11:50 am on October 30, 2026, Varun Beverages shares were trading at Rs 409.30, down 1.1 per cent from the previous close. The stock was about 24.8 per cent below its 52-week high of Rs 544.15 and remained above its 52-week low of Rs 382.00. Over the past year, the shares have declined 10.29 per cent, compared with an 8.63 per cent decline in the BSE 500. The company’s market capitalisation stood at about Rs 1,39,985 crore.

What This Means for Investors

The quarter reinforces Varun Beverages’ ability to grow revenue beyond its core Indian summer-selling period, supported by international expansion and a wider distribution footprint. The Kenya acquisition strengthens its East African execution platform, while Twizza’s earlier integration in South Africa adds manufacturing capacity and route-to-market reach. However, the September-quarter PAT growth was lower than revenue growth, underlining the near-term impact of lower-margin acquired operations, distribution expenses and a larger depreciation base.

The interim dividend signals continued cash-generation capacity despite active capital deployment across Africa and new categories. The ready-to-drink alcohol subsidiary creates strategic optionality, but its earnings contribution will depend on execution in a new and regulated category. The principal operating test remains whether newly acquired African businesses can improve margins as capacity utilisation and distribution scale rise. At 41.34 times trailing earnings and 23.19 times enterprise value to trailing earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, the valuation leaves investors focused on sustained growth and disciplined integration.
