Nifty Below 6700 Mark, Auto Down By 1%

Indian markets closed the last trading day of the week on a negative note, as investors continued with the profit booking trend. As a result Nifty closed lower by 41 points at 6694 and Sensex was negative by 149 points to trade at 22359. Auto and Bankex were down by 1% on the bourses today.


The Indian markets continued with the profit booking trade till closing buzz. Most of the indices closed in negative territory. Auto and Banking were down around 1%. However Metals and Consumer Durables closed on a positive note. Nifty closed negative by 41 points at 6694 and Sensex was 149 points lower at 22359.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the positive side as the day ended with 1921 shares in green and 1479 shares in the red zone.

Top Nifty Gainers: DLF gained 2.50% in today’s trade, followed by Cipla, PNB, Tata Steel and ACC.

Top Nifty Losers: NTPC closed the day lower by 2.2%, followed by BHEL, Power Grid, HCL Tech and United Spirits.

Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Auto and IT witnessed profit booking by 100 points. Oil & Gas and FMCG also saw some negative trend, around 40 and 50 points respectively. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps witnessed a positive trade. Consumer Durables and Metals were closed in the negative territory. 

All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Nikkei closed down by 8 points, whereas Hang Seng closed down by 55 points. Taiwan and Kospi also closed in the negative territory. 

Buzzer: NTPC was down by more than 2.2% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 120. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 115/110 mark in the next few sessions.

Nifty Future witnessed profit booking and also closed below the technical level of 6750. If it opens below this level may extend the losses further.
