Sensex, Nifty Close On Lower Ends

Markets witnessed a profit booking session around the closing buzz. The global sentiments and weaker momentum in the rupee dragged indices to close on the lower side. At the end of the trading session, Nifty index was down by 74 points at 7672 and the Sensex ended the day lower at 25665, down by 242 points.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the negative side as the day ended with 1786 shares in green and 1813 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Infosys gained 1.79% in today’s trade, followed by Power Grid, Asian Paints, M&M and Tech Mahindra.
Top Nifty Losers: ITC closed the day lower by 2.79%, followed by ITC, PNB, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Jindal Steel.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note. Bankex and Metals witnessed big fall by 318 points and 250 points respectively. FMCG, Health Care and Oil & Gas also witnessed profit booking trade by 70 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps closed on a negative note. However IT closed on a higher note by 65 points.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a negative note. Hang Seng closed down by 64 points, whereas Nikkei index closed down by 160 points. KOSPI and Shanghai Composite also closed in the negative territory.
Buzzer: ITC was down by more than 2.7% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 350. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 340/330 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future closed around the technical level of 7700 level. The immediate support level for tomorrow’s trading session will be 7660/7625.
