Sensex, Nifty Close On Flat Note, Jindal Steel Down By 6%

The Indian markets witnessed some flattish trade in today’s session. Capital Goods, Bankex and Oil & Gas continued with the profit booking scenario. Mid-caps and small-caps closed in the negative territory. The Nifty index ended down by 1 point at 7904 and Sensex closed up by 5 points at 26442.

The advance-decline ratio on NSE was on the negative side as the day ended with 1416 shares in green and 2187 shares in the red zone.
Top Nifty Gainers: Hindalco gained 3.43% in today’s trade, followed by Tata Steel, Lupin, Tech Mahindra and GAIL.
Top Nifty Losers: Jindal Steel closed the day lower by 2.03%, followed by HDFC, BPCL, Bharti Airtel and Ambuja Cement.
Most of the sectoral indices closed on a mixed note. Capital Goods and Bankex witnessed down move by 124 points and 42 points respectively. Oil & Gas, mid-caps and small-caps also saw a negative momentum. However sectors like FMCG, Health Care and IT remain in the positive territory.
All the major Asian markets closed the day on a mixed note. Hang Seng closed up by 118 points, whereas Taiwan Index and KOSPI Index closed up by 126 points and 12 points respectively. However Nikkei closed in the negative territory.
Buzzer: Jindal Steel was down by more than 6.5% on the bourses today and closed near the technical level of Rs 240. If the stock opens below this level, it may touch the Rs 220/205 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Future sustained above the technical level of 7900. Going ahead, the sentiments may turn choppy ahead of August expiry session.
