Sensex Falls by 483 points, Nifty Below 8400

The Indian markets witnessed an unexpected fall in today’s trading session. The most affected indices were: Auto, Banking and Metals, as each one witnessed basket selling and crashed by more than 350 points each. The Sensex closed at 27687 down by 483 points. Whereas the Nifty closed at 8363 points lower by 147 points. Both the indices closed lower by a heavy 1.7 percent each.

The most affected indices were: Auto, Banking and Metals, as each one witnessed basket selling and crashed by more than 350 points each. The Sensex closed at 27687 down by 483 points. Whereas the Nifty closed at 8363 points lower by 147 points. . Both the indices closed lower by a heavy 1.7 percent each.

The market breadth finished on a negative note at the end of the day. On the NSE, 948 shares closed in the green, while 1801 shares ended the day in red.

Top Nifty Gainers: HUL was the only  profit maker today and appreciated by .36%. 

Top Nifty Losers: Vedanta closed the day losing by 8.1%. It was followed by Yes Bank, Cairn India, Tata Motors and Tata steel.

All 13 sectors ended the day with losses. Auto was the top loser as it closed the day losing a hefty 424points. Banking and Metals also ended the day significantly lower. They lost out by 365 points and 357 points respectively. Mid-caps and Small-caps were down by more than 150 points each. Capital Goods, Healthcare, Consumer Durable and FMCG also closed in negative territory. 

The Asian markets hammered a lot in today’s session. Hang Seng was the top loser as it closed at a massive low of 1458 points. Nikkei ended lower by 638 points. The Shanghai Composite and Taiwan also ended on a negative note.

Buzzer: Vedanta’s stock failed by 8 percent and closed below Rs.150, which is indicative of a further decline in the days ahead.

The Nifty closed below its vital stats of 8400 today. If it sustains below the 8350 level in tomorrow’s trade we may see more profit booking.
