Markets Remain Choppy, End Lower

The Indian markets have been witnessing choppy trades for the past two consecutive days. Today, after stocks like Tata Motors, SBI and Hindalco dropped, the Nifty ended down by 5 points at 8454 and the Sensex was down by 28 points closing at 27932. The indices ended the day lower by 0.07- 0.10 percent respectively.
The Indian markets have been witnessing choppy trades for the past two consecutive days. Today, after stocks like Tata Motors, SBI and Hindalco dropped, the Nifty ended down by 5 points at 8454 and the Sensex was down by 28 points closing at 27932. The indices ended the day lower by 0.07- 0.10 percent respectively.
However the advance-decline ratio ended on the positive side. On the NSE, 1546 shares closed in green, while 1295 shares were in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Coal India closed the day with the top gains, up by 3.3%. Infosys, BPCL, HUL and Ambuja Cement were among the other key gainers.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Tata Motors was the top loser, down by 4.02%, followed by SBI, Hindalco, Vedanta and Tata Steel.
By the end of the day, 11 out of 13 sectors remained in the green zone. Healthcare and IT were the top gainers, up around 100 points. Metals, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables were up around 60 points each. Only Auto and Bankex ended on a negative note, down by 173 points and 119 points respectively.
The Asian markets closed on a positive note. The Nikkei market was the top gainer, up by 295 points. Hang Seng also ended higher by 103 points. KOSPI and Straits Times ended with a marginal loss.
Buzzers: The stocks of Tata Motors has been surrounded by massive amount of selling pressure from last few days. Today the stock crashed by over 4% and hita new 52-week low of Rs 380.95.
The Nifty index was strongly volatile on both sides. Going ahead, the level 8450 will be a pivot for the next trading session.
