Crompton Greaves bags an order from Indonesia

Crompton Greaves (CG) won orders worth USD 35 million (Rs 2330 million) from PT PLN (Persero) Indonesia. PT PLN is a state owned electricity company of Indonesia, and CG will be engaged in manufacturing and installing 28 power transformers ranging from 83.3 (Mega Volt Ampere) MVA to 167 MVA and rated voltage 500 kV/150 kV (kilovolt).

CG’s power transformers will be installed across PT PLN’s transmission network, spread across multiple substations and power plants in the Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan areas. The delivery period is scheduled between May 2016 and March 2017. CG has regularly provided PT PLN transformers in the range of 30 MVA to 500 MVA and voltage levels up to 500 kV. The order will reinforce the strong relationship with the Indonesian company.

CG won this order because of its successful track record with PT PLN, backed by a global recognition of its technical expertise in manufacturing and supplying high voltage transformers.The project will help PT PLN to enhance performance of the Indonesian transmission grid. Power transformers are critically important for the company. The deployment of CG’s power transformers will be able to reduce dependence on the import of heavy equipment.

Crompton Greaves demerged its consumer electrical business on March 16. The demerged business will be handled by Crompton Greaves Consumer Electrical. For every 1 equity share of Crompton Greaves, shareholders will receive 1 equity share of Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals.

The share price of CG increased by 4.27 per cent on bourses in early trades; and is trading at Rs 47.6 on an intraday basis.
