Wow, Nifty sustains 7700! Auto drove the index steady even as Tata Power powered the markets

Indian markets climbed second consecutive trading session on Tuesday, clocking a rise by 0.14 percent, with auto, consumer durables and capital goods being the key gainers. The Nikkei also saw superb up move by 323 points during the day. The Nifty ended 10 points up at 7714 and the Sensex ended 45 points up at 25330. 

The advance-decline ratio ended positive today. On the NSE, 1335 shares closed in green, while 1256 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tata Power closed with highest top gains, up by 4.4%. Bosch, BHEL, Vedanta and Hero Motocorp were the others trading higher.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Dr Reddys Labs was down by 3.9% today, followed by ITC, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra and HUL.

As many as 10 of the 13 sectors ended in green. Auto was up by 190 points, consumer durables gained 183 points and capital goods was 152 points higher. Metals sector also provided good support and ended the day being up 59 by points. Mid-caps and small-caps were both up by 50 points.

Asian markets closed on a mixed note. The Nikkei was the top gainer, up by 323 points, while Hang Seng ended nominally negative down 17 points. Shanghai Composite and Taiwan Weighted were also in the red zone.

Buzzers: Tata Power Solar has announced that it has successfully commissioned a 4.8 MW solar power plant for Rajaram Maize Products in India. The stock surged by 4.4 percent to close above the technical level of Rs 60. The stock may see more up move. 

Nifty Futures have broken their bullish crossover at 7700 and also managed to close above this level. A positive opening is likely in tomorrow’s trading session.
