Choppy day, Ends on a flat note

The Indian markets witnessed volatile trades till closing session on Wednesday. After mid-session activities, the indices recovered from day’s lower end to close in green territory. The metal stocks like Tata Steel, Hindalco and Vedanta were out-performers of the day. However auto stocks like M&M and Maruti Suzuki witnessed some profit booking. The Nifty ended with nominal gains of 0.05 points to close at 7914 and Sensex ended in green gaining 27 points at 25844.

The metal stocks like Tata Steel, Hindalco and Vedanta were out-performers of the day. However auto stocks like M&M and Maruti Suzuki witnessed some profit booking. The Nifty ended with nominal gains of 0.05 points to close at 7914 and Sensex ended in green gaining 27 points at 25844.

The advance-decline ratio ended on the positive side in the closing session. On the NSE, 1476 shares closed in green, while 1140 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Tata Steel closed the day as the top gainer, up by 6.5%. Hindalco, Axis Bank, Bank Of Baroda and GAIL were the others that ended on a higher note.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Idea Cellular closed the day as the top loser, down by 3.1%, followed by TCS, Bharti Infra, Reliance and Zee Entertain.

On the sectoral front 5 of 13 sectors closed in red. Metals ended as the top gainer for the day, up by 291 points. Consumer durabales and capital goods indices were up by 214 points and 125 points respectively. Mid-caps and small-caps were up too in the range of 50 points each. However auto sector saw some profit booking on the higher side and ended the day down by 105 points. Followed by healthcare and IT were down around 40 points each.

In the Asian markets, Hang Seng closed down by 199 points. Taiwan ended lower by 119 points. Shanghai Composite and KOSPI ended on a negative note too. However Nikkei closed in positive note.

Buzzers: Hindalco surged by 4.8 per cent and broke the technical level of Rs 100 and also managed to close above this level. If it continues to soar with this momentum, the stock may see 110/115 soon.

The Nifty Future closed above 7900 level  indicating some positive trade till it’s sustain above 7870 levels for tomorrow’s trading session.
