The budget session of Parliament begins today, Monday and in all possibilities the series of sessions which includes 15 sittings between 25th of April and May 13th will be action packed,  with the opposition after a long time sensing an opportunity to corner the ruling party.

After a couple of budget sessions held a year before did not yield any outcome, all eyes are set on the current budget session of Parliament where the expectation is high on GST bill, supposedly the biggest tax reform in India. The ruling government has set an ambitious agenda of passing 13 bills in Lok sabha and 11 bills in Rajya Sabha. It seems passing of GST bill will be a tough task and it won't happen at least in the first few sessions. Key bills such as Railways appropriation Bill 2016 and Finance Bill 2016 are expected to be tabled by the government in this budget session of Parliament.

While the united opposition is expected to take up the Uttarakhand issue aggressively, several other issues are expected to dominate the sessions. President rule in Arunachal Pradesh, Pathankot terror attack, severe drought situation in Maharashtra and other 9 drought affected states in India is expected to be taken up by the opposition.

While market has run up nicely post budget announcements, there is visible fatigue in stock prices and some amount of correction in stock prices may happen. Passage of GST bill will be a big trigger for the markets and will surely cheer lot of investors. With politics at its aggressive best, one can only hope the current budget session of parliament should not be a waste and GST bill should be passed along with other constructive bills, to be tabled by the government in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
