Indices negative: Metals end with profit booking trade

The Indian markets witnessed a profit booking trade from morning session. The most affected were the stocks of Metal index, as stocks like Hindalco, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel and VEDL witnessed basket selling and crashed around 3 per cent each. Having fallen by 159 points, the Sensex ended the day at 25678.The Nifty ended the day lower by 44 points at 7855.

The market breadth ended on a negative note at the end of the day. On the NSE, 1067 shares closed in the green; while 1542 shares ended the day in red.

Top Nifty Gainers: Bharti Airtel was the highest gainer today and appreciated by 1.6%. It was followed by TCS, BPCL, Ambuja Cement and Bajaj Auto.

Top Nifty Losers: Hindalco closed the day lower by 2.6%. It was followed by Bank Of Baroda, Tata Motors DVR, Maruti Suzuki and NTPC.

12 of the 13 sectors ended the day with losses. Auto was the top loser as it closed lower by a hefty 163 points. Healthcare and Metals also ended the day significantly lower, down by 130 points and 90 points respectively. Oil & Gas, Mid-caps and Small-caps also were surrounded in negative scenario, down around 50 points each.

Asian markets also closed on a negative note today. The Hang Seng was the top loser as it closed lower by 162 points. The Nikkei ended lower by 133 points. The Shanghai Composite and KOSPI also ended on a positive note.

Buzzer: Bank Of Baroda. The stock closed below the technical level of Rs 160 down by 2.5 per cent.  Which is indicative of a more negative move ahead.

The Nifty closed below its vital support level of 7900 today. A closing below this level is indicative of a more painful scenario ahead.
