Choppy market ended lower; Awaiting RBI policy

The Indian markets witnessed some choppy trades before RBI policy session. The investors are looking cautious as benchmark indices witnessed some profit booking on closing buzz. The Nifty ended down by 19 points at 8201 and Sensex was down 65 points at 26777. The indices ended the day lower by 0.24 per cent each.

The advance-decline ratio ended on the negative side. On the NSE, 1175 shares closed in green, while 1455 shares were in the red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Bank Of Baroda closed the day with the top gains, up by 2.3%. Yes Bank, Tata Motors, Hindalco and Ultra Tech Cements were among the other key gainers.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: Bharti Airtel was the top loser, down by 2.6%, followed by Bharti Infratel, Tech Mahindra, Lupin and Axis Bank.
By the end of the day, 11 out of 13 sectors remained in the red zone. Consumer Durables was the top loser, down by 159. Healthcare and Oil & Gas were down by 118 points and 50 points respectively. Bankex, IT and Metals also closed in negative territory. Only Capital Goods, Auto and FMCG ended on a positive note.
The Asian markets closed on a positive note. The Nikkei market closed in the negative, down by 62 points. However the Hang Seng ended higher by 80 points. KOSPI and Straits Times ended with marginal gains.
Buzzers: Bank of Baroda. The stock surged by 2.3 per cent, which is above the technical level of Rs 140. If it continues with the current momentum it may close above 150 mark in next couple of days.
The Nifty index was strongly volatile on both sides. The 8200 level will be a pivot for the next trading session.
