Cabinet clears Aviation Policy

The Government on Wednesday finally has framed the new Aviation Policy and has cleared the draft which was pending with them for a year.

According to the new policy air carrier will need not require to operate for atleast for 5 years to start the international operations, however the maximum limit of the aircraft operations has been restrained. The news is a good booster to the new entrants like Air Asia and Vistara.

The domestic travellers have something to cheer as the cabinet has approved to keep the cap on the domestic air fares at Rs 2500 for the travel of less than 1 hour. The move will certainly boost the demand of domestic air lines.

On the news, the shares of the major players like Spice Jet and Interglobe Aviation are trading positive. The shares of Interglobe Aviation are up by 3 per cent at 1.44 pm on Wednesday. Amongst the aviation stocks, Spice Jet is the largest gainer at 4 per cent.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapati Raju will hold a press conference at 4 pm and will discuss the policy in detail.
