Opposition wants roll back of demonitisation, Jaitley says, NO

Building tremendous pressure on Narendra Modi-led government in the Centre on Thursday during Parliament session, the parties in Opposition demanded a roll back of the demonetisation process and also they asked the government to fetch back the scrapped currency notes.

Building tremendous pressure on Narendra Modi-led government in the Centre on Thursday during Parliament session, the parties in Opposition demanded a roll back of the demonetisation process and also they asked the government to fetch back the scrapped currency notes. On the face of an almost united attack, union finance minister, Arun Jaitley vehemently rejected the plea and later told the national media that under no such circumstances, his government would even think of rolling back its demonetisation process related decisions taken earlier.

Meanwhile, on yet another move, the Centre on Thursday reviewed the systems in place and brought down the money swap limit to just Rs 2000 from earlier Rs 4500. But in another move bringing in much relief among the farmers, it has asked banks to clear cash payments to the farmers across the nation upto a limit of Rs 25,000, Friday onwards. In another development, Jaitley said that 22,500 ATMs have been readied to dispense notes of Rs 2000 among two lakh ATMs that the country has. Those recalibrated ATMs will be dispensing Rs 2000 notes from Friday, said a finance ministry official sharing day's development with the mediapersons in the national capital.
