President of India Pranab Mukherjee kicked off the budget session of the Parliament on Tuesday morning addressing both the Houses. He referred the move of merging Railway and Union Budget 'historic'.

“An unprecedented 26 crore plus Jan Dhan accounts have been opened “ President Mukherjee said while highlighting the initiatives taken by the government to improve the living quality of the poor citizens of India.
He also highlighted the 'Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana' through which the government would provide shelters to poor homeless citizens.
“The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will make clean energy accessible to the poor," he added.
He praised the central government's approach of holistic growth of the farming sector. Supporting by favourable monsoon with increased farmer oriented schemes would help India increase yields of most kharif crops, he concluded.
