Tata Motors and Volkswagen are into advanced stages of entering into partnership, according to market reports. The nature of partnership is still being worked out - whether it will be a joint venture or technology tie-up. A formal announcement could be made at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017.
Tata Motors and Volkswagen are into advanced stages of entering into partnership, according to market reports. The companies are looking at sharing modular platforms for India and emerging markets, including advanced modular platform being developed by Tata Motors. Volkswagen may offer technical know-how on producing multiple models based on modular architecture.
German business magazine Manager Magzin had reported in July that Tata Motors and Volkswagen might partner to develop small cars, especially for the emerging markets. This deal could have wide-ranging impact on the Indian automobile industry.
Tata Motors had reported poor performance in Q3FY17, as consolidated revenue declined 4.3 per cent with a net loss of Rs. 268 crore. The stock went marginally up in today’s trading to Rs.460.15
