Maruti Suzuki’s cars occupy 8 spots in January 2017 PV sales

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki's cars have grabbed 8 spots in the top 10 list of highest sold passenger cars in the country. Last year, the company had 6 of its variants in the top 10 list, as per the latest data provided by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association).

Maruti Suzuki’s Alto regained the top position with 22,998 units sold as against 21462 sold in the same month last year. The second spot in the list was bagged by compact sedan Dzire with 15,072 units sold in January.

Another compact car Wagon R was at third spot, followed by premium hatchback Swift at fourth spot, Celerio at seventh, premium hatchback Baleno at eighth and, lastly, the new compact SUV Vitara Brezza at ninth spot. Maruti Suzuki has 47.7 per cent market share in top 10 vehicles with 11,95,347 units sold in April-January period.

Maruti Suzuki has kept itself in the bright spot even after demonetisation continues to affect its peers as sales in January jumped by 27.1 per cent at 144,396 units as compared to the same month last year. The stock fell down by 1.38 per cent for the day to close at Rs 5951.55
