The power giant NTPC has kicked off the process to expand operations at its Pakri Barwadih coal mine in Jharkhand to achieve annual capacity of 18 million tonnes.

The company will appoint a consultant to prepare feasibility report for north west quarry of its Pakri Barwadih coal mine as per the tender notice. The company has planned to mine 18 million tonnes of a coal per annum. NTPC has already started mining operations at Pakri Barwadih coal mine and the first rake of dry fuel was flagged off by Finance Minister, Arun Jaitly recently.
NTPC is playing a major role in meeting the power needs of the country and contributing 24 per cent of electricity generation.
The company’s stock closed down by 3.05 points or 1.87 per cent from the previous close of Rs 163.1. On Wednesday, the scrip opened at Rs 164 and touched high and low of Rs.164.2 and Rs. 160.05, respectively.
