Markets close weak on profit booking

After hovering near the two-year high, Indian markets witnessed weak sentiments due to emergence of profit booking on Tuesday. Nifty was not able to sustain the psychological level of 8950.

After hovering near the two-year high, Indian markets witnessed weak sentiments due to emergence of profit booking on Tuesday. Nifty was not able to sustain the psychological level of 8950.

At the closing bell, Nifty ended at 8946, with loss of 16 points and BSE Sensex closed at 28999 with reduction of 48 points. On the NSE, 17 shares closed in the green, while 34 shares ended the day in the red.

All indices closed in the red, except Capital Goods, FMCG, Oil & Gas and Consumer Durables. Auto index declined 109 points. Bankex fell 48 points. Metals slid 217 points. However, Mid-cap and Small-cap indices increased 18 points and 4 points, respectively.

Asian markets traded mixed on Tuesday. Shanghai increased 0.26 per cent, Hang Seng rose 0.36 per cent, while Nikkei reduced 0.18 per cent. European markets were also trading mixed.

Derivative Analysis

Nifty Future closed with negative bias at 8973. Going ahead, 9015/8950 will be the immediate support levels.
