TVS Motors ships out 310cc BMW bikes from its plant

TVS motor started exports of BMW 310cc bikes from its Hosur manufacturing plant near Bengaluru, this move is in line with the agreement entered into with BMW.
TVS Motors has taken a step ahead and commenced the shipment of BMW branded 310cc motorcycles from its Hosur plant near Bengaluru, which is in line with the agreement entered into with BMW. TVS has lined up the launch of Akula 310 (based on BMW JV) in FY2018, which is likely to come in ahead of BMW’s launch of G310R as BMW is still working towards a competitive pricing for Indian markets.
Akula's launch will help TVS Motors enter the premium motorcycles' segment, and will also add-up to the sales volumes. In line with this, TVS plans to invest Rs 350 cr towards capex for FY2018 and expects to launch one new model each of a scooter and a motorcycle in the same financial year.
The Company’s current market share in scooters is around 17%; and in motorcycles around 8% in Q3FY17. Furthermore, exports have been a key focus area for TVS Motors as it exports its products to over 60 countries. Also, it exports 60-65% of its three wheelers.
