Government plans to boost EPF interest, rolls out UAN based website

Employees to keep a better handle to plan their retirement year have to keep a tab on EPF balance on a regular basis. Various initiatives have been rolled out by the EPFO through which employees can check their PF balances quickly.
Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya recently said the finance ministry, has agreed to a rate of interest of 8.65% and EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) will soon credit 2016-17.
As per a leading news portal, the minister said that the communication will come as formal discussions are over.
The minister also revealed that, to over four crore subscribers, they will issue immediate notification and credit the rate of interest.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation had earlier approved the 8.65% rate on employee provident fund.

Related to this the EPFO has rolled out a unified UAN-based portal, www. unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface.com.
EPFO on its website gives a facility for quickly checking the balance of EPF balance.
EPFO has also rolled out an app through which members can view their passbook and know their balance.
