BHEL commissions 1,980 MW super critical thermal unit in Uttar Pradesh

On May 23, 2017, state-owned Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) has executed the three super-critical units of 1,980-megawatt coal-based thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh within a span of 85 days.

On May 23, 2017, state-owned Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) has executed the three super-critical units of 1,980-megawatt coal-based thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh within a span of 85 days.

 Located in Bara tehsil in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the project is owned by Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited (PPGCL), a subsidiary company of Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.

The project included design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the Boiler and Turbine Generator package. 

At Haridwar, Trichy, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bengaluru, the key equipment for the project was manufactured while the construction of the plant was undertaken by the company's Power Sector - Northern Region.

In addition, BHEL supply more than 17,000 MW or over 70 per cent of Uttar Pradesh power generation capacity. It also has commissioned 4,960 MW of projects in the state in last two years.
