Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas has expressed will of the Government of India to bring petroleum products under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime in the coming days as it could be beneficial for the national economy, reported by a leading business daily on Thursday.

Currently diesel, petrol, crude oil, natural gas and jet fuel have been excluded from the GST. Apart from these five petroleum products, alcohol has also been kept out of the new indirect tax structure.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan further said that they have proposed the GST Council to bring petroleum products under the GST hood for the economic development of the nation.
