Uflex launches Flexfresh, biodegradable solution for fresh food packaging

India’s flexible packaging major, Uflex Limited added another feather to its hat with the launch of its significant innovation in the field of food packaging.
The company has been providing AMAP (Active Modified Atmosphere Packaging) solutions using Perfotec’s Fast Respiration Meter to determine the Respiration Rate of the fresh produce, for a good quality fresh food packaging and food export.
Using the upgraded research technology, the company developed liners bags named ‘Flexfresh’ with its patented polymeric composition, which has the suitably modified atmosphere for the fresh goods’ packaging.
According to the company’s BSE filing, the Flexfresh liner bags are the aptest biodegradable solution for fresh food packaging as it maintains the equilibrium of oxygen and carbon dioxide inside the bag, keeping the product dry along with keeping its weight intact.
The company launched the Flexfresh in time for catering to the huge export demand for fresh food in the month of Ramadan. The company along with Bangalore-based Deccan Field designed the solution for expanding the shelf life to up to four to five weeks. Deccan Field shipped a huge assignment of Indian papayas to Dubai by sea freight, thereby upholding the innovation.
Uflex Limited had posted a substantial increase in its consolidated net profit, soaring by 25.62 per cent to Rs 98.19 crore for the fourth quarter of FY17 on a yearly basis.
On June 27, 2017, Uflex Limited was trading at Rs 390, up by over 2 per cent in the intraday trade on the BSE.
