Nifty closes at all-time high, Realty stocks gain the most

The benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex surged in the trading session on July 6, with both Nifty and Sensex closing at record highs, but off their intra-day highs. 
 
Nifty ended at 9,674 level, up by 36 points, while BSE Sensex closed up by 123 points at 31,369 level. BSE Mid-cap index closed with gain of 0.30 per cent at 14,947 level, while BSE Small-cap index ended higher by 0.31 per cent at 15,789 level. 
 
S&P BSE Realty index was the top gaining index in the closing hours, ending at 2124.96, up by 1.57 per cent. Prestige Estates Projects was the top gainer in the Realty index, up by nearly 7 per cent on reports of amalgamation of several enterprises with the company. Unitech Ltd and Sobha Ltd were also among the top drivers of the index, up by nearly 4 per cent on the BSE.
 
The S&P BSE Consumer Durables index was the top losing index in the closing hours of the session, quoting at the 16090.27 level, down by 51.76 points or 0.32 per cent. Rajesh Exports lost the most in the Consumer Durables index, declining by over 2 per cent.    
 
Thursday’s session witnessed significant gains in the retail stocks. Future Retail closed at Rs 394, up by 5.9 per cent, whereas Future Enterprises closed at 35.65, an increase of 5 per cent. Avenue Supermart was up by 4 per cent, closing at Rs 881.10, whereas, V-Mart Retail closed at Rs 1267, a gain of 3.8 per cent and Monte Carlo closed at Rs 545.10, up by 1.9 per cent.
 
Bharti Infratel, State Bank of India, Indiabulls Housing Finance and ITC were top gainers in Nifty, while IOC, Hindalco, Mahindra and Mahindra & Sun Pharmaceutical Industries were the top losers in the index.
