Nifty crosses 9950-mark; HDFC Bank and RIL lift Sensex to record high

BSE benchmark index Sensex closed at 32245, up by almost 217 points or 0.68 per cent, while NSE Nifty 50 closed at 9966 up over 51 points.

Bharti Airtel was the top Sensex gainer, closing up by 2.15 per cent. RIL, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel , Wipro , TCS , Adani Ports and ITC helped Sensex close at record highs. HDFC Bank and RIL put together contributed almost 66 per cent of the Sensex gains.
Dr. Reddy's was the top loser in the Sensex ,closing down by 2.19 per cent. Axis Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, ONGC and Kotak Mahindra Bank lost between half per cent and one percentage point.
BSE Telecom index was the best performing index, gaining 1.39 per cent. BSE IT index closed 1.05 per cent higher.
BSE Metal index was the top loser among sectoral indices. BSE Metal slipped 0.58 per cent on Monday. Barring BSE Metal, BSE Realty and BSE Healthcare, all other major sectoral indices closed in the green.
