Reliance is in talks with one of the most popular social messaging android application, WhatsApp, to create a special version of the app for JioPhone, reported a leading news agency. The pre-booking for the JioPhone will start from August 24, 2017.

The phone will be available for free but the customer will have to pay a refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500. The 4G phone was announced at the annual general meeting (AGM) of Reliance by its chairman Mukesh Ambani.

Jio apps will be pre-loaded in the JioPhone and it would also support Facebook and YouTube. However, the market was initially disappointed to hear that JioPhone would not include WhatsApp, which is used by around 200 million users in India.
