The index was trading at the 2,159.94 level, down by 44.32 points or 2.01% as at 1031 hours on Tuesday. Unitech was the top loser and was trading down by 7.12% at Rs 8.22 per share.
Meanwhile, DLF was contributing most to the index losses and the stock was trading down by 2.22% at Rs 187.20. Housing Development and Infrastructure was down by 6.78% at Rs 64.65 and the stock witnessed a spurt in volume by more than 1.06 times; Indiabulls Real Estate was down 2.41% at Rs 259.50; Sobha Ltd. was down by 2.12% at Rs 376.50; Oberoi Realty was down 1.71% at Rs 382.60; and Godrej Properties was down 0.19% at Rs 502.40.
