PSBs report 20% increase in outstanding loans

As per the data released by the Ministry of Finance, public sector banks (PSBs) have reported a 20% increase in outstanding loans by nearly 9,000 willful defaulters who collectively owed more than Rs 92,000 crore to lenders at the end of March this year.
As per the data released by the Ministry of Finance, public sector banks (PSBs) have reported a 20% increase in outstanding loans by nearly 9,000 willful defaulters who collectively owed more than Rs 92,000 crore to lenders at the end of March this year. In March last year, this figure was Rs 76,685 crore.
Simultaneously, there has been an almost 10% increase in the number of willful defaulters on an annual basis with an increase from 8,167 in the previous fiscal to 8,915 in the current year. Out of the 8,915 cases, banks have filed FIR (First Information Report) in 1,914 cases for outstanding loans of Rs 32,484 crore.
