Bajaj Auto scrip goes up on back of August sales data

After issuing its sales data for the month of August 2017, the shares of Bajaj Auto shot up by nearly 2% intraday on Friday.
After issuing its sales data for the month of August 2017, the shares of Bajaj Auto shot up by nearly 2% intraday on Friday. The company posted a 1% advance in the motorcycles segment to 2,83,861 units in August 2017 as compared to 2,79,911 in August 2016.
The commercial vehicles’ segment registered a growth of 13% to 51,170 units in August 2017 as against 45,436 units of the same period last year. However, the total (motorcycles + commercial vehicles) sales posted a decline of 7% to 1,531,192 units in the month of August 2017. The company reported total sales of 16,49,913 units in the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile, the stock was trading up by 1.44% at Rs 2,849 per share on the BSE at 0933 hours. It opened at Rs 2,830 per share and attracted total traded volume of 89,723 shares and traded value of Rs 2,566.10 lakhs on the NSE at 0937 hours. Its 52-week high stood at Rs 3,120 as on September 8, 2016 and 52-week low at Rs 2,510 as on November 21, 2016. On an YTD basis, the stock has advanced by around 6.93% till date.
