JSPL’s Naveen Jindal and associates granted bail by CBI court

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has granted bail to industrialist and former Member of Parliament, Naveen Jindal, in the Urtan coal block case, reported a national news agency.

Naveen Jindal is chairman and managing director of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL). The other accused granted relief includes vice-chairman and CEO of JSPL, Vikrant Gujral; chief advisor Anand Goel; former deputy managing director Sushil Maroo; and the company’s authorised signatory D N Abrol.
The accused were summoned for alleged offences of cheating and criminal conspiracy in the allocation of the Urtan north coal block in Madhya Pradesh. The court has now posted the matter for further hearing to October 31. Meanwhile, the stock of Jindal Steel and Power was trading at Rs 142.45 per share, down by Rs 0.10 or 0.07% as at 1116 hours on Monday, on the BSE. The stock hit an intraday high and low of Rs 145.80 and Rs 140.85, respectively. It attracted a traded volume of 55,29,735 shares and traded value of Rs 7,903.65 lakhs on the NSE. The company had hit its 52-week high of Rs 159.40 on August 2, 2017 and 52-week low of Rs 62 on November 9, 2016, on the NSE.
