Sensex Down 100 Points, Nifty Below 5800

The Indian markets opened on a negative note after closing at a lower level last evening. The global markets were seen trading in a mixed zone in the morning session. The Nifty opened with a negative bias at 5788 and Sensex was down at 19,134. Both the indices opened down in the range of 0.42%-0.46%.

The Nifty opened with a negative bias of 25 points at 5788 and Sensex was down by 88 points at 19,134. Both the indices opened down in the range of 0.42%-0.46%.

The advance-decline ratio is balanced this morning. On the NSE, 657 shares are trading in gains and 655 shares are down.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Jindal Steel is the top Nifty gainer so far, up by 3.1%, followed by IDFC, Bharti Airtel, Sesa Goa and Lupin.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: UltraTech Cement is the top loser this morning, trading down by 2.2%, followed by Coal India, Tata Motors, NTPC and ONGC.

In the sectoral pack, 8 out of 13 sectors are trading in the red zone. Auto is the top loser trading down by 50 points. Banks and Oil & Gas are also down by 50 points and 42 points respectively. IT and Capital Goods are down by 34 points and 19 points correspondingly.

On the global front, the Asian shares are trading with a mixed sentiment. The Hang Seng market is the top loser for today’s session, down by 286 points. Nikkei is up by 144 points while the Taiwan, Shanghai and KOSPI markets are trading on a positive note.

Buzzers: Jindal Steel opened with some positive sentiment, up by 3.44%. The stock made a high at Rs 251.50. It broke its stiff resistance in the morning session at Rs 250. If it breaks this level, we will see an up-move up to Rs 200 in the further trading sessions.

The levels of 5760- 5740 will be the limit for Nifty. It will face a major hurdle at the 5810 level.
