Swing Trades End Positive

The Indian markets saw a highly volatile session today. The indices first pulled up in the morning session, then saw some profit booking and then another rally till the closing, where it closed near the day’s high. At the closing bell, the Nifty ended higher by 106 points at 5448 and the Sensex gained 332 points to close at 18560.

On closing, the market breadth was positive. On the NSE, 1838 shares closed in the green and 1488 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: Ranbaxy Labs closed the day with the most gains on the NSE, as it ended higher by 8.8%. BHEL, JP Associates, IndusInd Bank and Tata Motors were the others that ended higher.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: DLF was the top loser, as it closed lower by 0.59%. It was followed by ITC. These were the only two losers on today’s trading session.

All of the sectoral indices closed in the green today. Auto was the highest gainer as it gained 248 points by the day’s end. Healthcare was up by 229 points and Metals by 214 points. Bankex was up by 205 points and Oil & Gas moved up 168 points. Mid-caps and small-caps were both higher in the range of 50 points each.

In the Asian markets, the Nikkei closed up by 75 points. The Shanghai Composite also ended on a positive note. The Hang Seng index ended lower by 68 points.

Buzzer: All the telecom stocks saw healthy upward momentum today. Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communication ended the day higher by 5.33%, 4.2% and 3.9% respectively. 

Nifty Futures closed above the 5450 level today. This will be the pivot level for tomorrow’s trading session.
