Indices Close In The Green

Trading remained volatile today. The NSE Nifty touched 5903 points by closing today, gaining 42 points and the Sensex closed at 19997, gaining 5 points as the day closed.

The NSE Nifty touched 5903 points by closing today, gaining 42 points in the entire trading day. Trading remained volatile, as the Nifty index went as low as 5837 points over the day.

The top five gainers on the NSE were Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, DLF, JP Associates and Grasim, where as top five losers were Power Grid Corporation Of India, Cairn India, Tata Motors, ITC and Hindustan Unilever.

The BSE Sensex, on the other hand, opened at 19992 and closed at 19997, gaining 5 points as the day closed. The index went as low as 19787 and rebounded to the green side due to the positive moves shown by SBI, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and L&T. The top five losers for the day on the BSE are Financial Technologies, IRB Infrastructure Developers, Bank of India, UCO Bank and GMR Infrastructure.

The European exchanges witnessed a downtrend, but the international markets overall showed positive movement and ended in the green.
