Markets Close At Lower End

The indices made a new low in the closing session today, with the Nifty ending down by 49 points at 5833 and Sensex 166 points lower at 19727. JP Associates crashed by 4.8% today.
The Indian markets continued in negatives after mid-session today, with the indices making a new low in the closing session. The Nifty ended the day down by 49 points at 5833 and Sensex ended 166 points lower at 19727. Both the indices were in down in the range of 0.84%-0.85%.
The advance-decline ratio turned negative by closing. On the NSE, 1614 shares closed in green, while 1742 shares ended the day in red.
Top 5 Nifty Gainers: BPCL closed the day with the highest gains on the index, up by 6.27%. HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, Hero MotoCorp and UltraTech Cement were among the others that ended higher.
Top 5 Nifty Losers: JP Associates crashed by 4.8% today. BHEL, Tata Steel, Kotak Mahindra and Bharti Airtel also closed the day’s trades in negatives.
Most of the sectoral indices closed in the red. Bankex and Metals closed lower by around 210 points and 140 points respectively. Capital Goods also saw some negative moves, down by 114 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps ended near yesterday’s closing. Among those in positives, FMCG gained 29 points by day’s end and Oil & Gas was up by 12 points.
In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng closed up by 82 points and Taiwan also ended 46 points higher. The Nikkei, though, closed in the red zone.
Buzzer: JP Associates moved down by 4.8%, making an intraday low of Rs 36 today. If it opens below this level, it may see more of a downfall to Rs 33.
Nifty Futures closed below the 5900 level today, indicating more negative move ahead.
