Indices Close At Day’s Low

The markets slid to make a new low in the closing session today. The Nifty closed down by 97 points at 5735, and Sensex was 347 points lower at 19379. All the sectoral indices barring IT remained in the red zone.

The Indian markets remained in negatives today, sliding to make a new low in the closing session. The Nifty closed down by 97 points at 5735, and Sensex was 347 points lower at 19379. Both the indices dipped in the range of 1.6%-1.7%.

The advance-decline ratio remained negative until the closing session. On the NSE, 1369 shares closed in green, while 1979 shares ended the day in red.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: HCL Tech saw the highest gains on the index, up by 1.3%. ACC, HUL, BPCL and Sun Pharma were among the others that ended higher.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Tata Steel crashed by 5.5% today. NMDC, JP Associates, BHEL and ICICI Bank also remained in negatives.

All the sectoral indices except for IT closed in the red zone. Bankex and Capital Goods lost around 320 points and 230 points respectively. Metals was down by 209 points. The Mid-Cap and Small-Cap indices were also in the red.

In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng closed down by 347 points and Nikkei was ended 304 points lower. The Taiwan and KOSPI indices too remained in the red zone.

Buzzer: NMDC moved down by 5.2%, making an intraday low of Rs 119 today. If the scrip opens below this level tomorrow, it may move to the Rs 100 level.

Nifty Futures closed below the technical level of 5800, indicating more negatives ahead.
