Market Open Weaker

The Indian markets continue to trade with a negative sentiment in today’s opening session, with Bankex, Oil & Gas and Auto dragging the indices lower. The Nifty is currently trading down by 28 points at 6159 and Sensex has lost 90 points to touch 20732. All the global markets are also in the red.

The advance-decline ratio is in the negatives at this hour. On the NSE, 1548 shares are trading in gains and 1650 shares are down.

Top 5 Nifty Gainers: HCL Tech is the top gainer so far, up by 1.9%, followed by Lupin, Tata Motors, Ranbaxy Labs and Tata Steel.

Top 5 Nifty Losers: Axis Bank has dipped by 2.47% in the morning session. HDFC, ONGC, ACC and IDFC are among the other stocks trading lower.

Among the sectoral indices, Bankex and Oil & Gas were down by 70 points each. The Capital Goods index has dipped by 50 points and Consumer Durables have lost 38 points. Among the gainers, Healthcare, IT and Metals showed some positive trades, up by around 40 points each.

The Asian markets are trading lower this morning. Hang Seng is the top loser, down by 155 points, and Nikkei is down by 147 points. KOSPI and Shanghai Composite were also in nominal losses.

Buzzer: Axis Bank is trading down by 1.5% in the opening session today. The scrip has made an intraday low of Rs 1141 as yet, and may show more weakness if it sustains below this level.

Nifty Futures is trading around the major support level of 6200. If it breaks this level with heavy volumes, the index may take a further fall.
