After a bull rally in yesterday’s session, the Indian markets saw profit booking today. However, the managed to trim some losses by day’s end. Nifty closed 31 points lower at 6332 and Sensex was down by 71 points at 21255.
After a bull rally in yesterday’s session, the Indian markets saw profit booking today. However, the managed to trim some losses by day’s end. Nifty closed 31 points lower at 6332 and Sensex was down by 71 points at 21255. Both indices closed negative in the range of 0.33%-0.49%.
The advance-decline ratio on the NSE, though, was in some negatives. 1378 shares closed in the green and 1877 shares were in red.Top Nifty Gainers: TCS closed higher by 3.8% in today’s trades, followed by Hero MotoCorp, Sesa Sterlite, Lupin and Wipro.
Top Nifty Losers: NTPC ended the day lower by 11.2%. Among the other stocks that closed in negatives were L&T, ICICI Bank, BHEL and IndusInd Bank.
The sectoral indices closed on a mixed note. Capital Goods and Bankex were down by 316 points and 244 points respectively. Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas moved lower by around 50 points. Mid-Caps and Small-Caps also remained under selling pressure. On the other hand, IT and Metals surged up by 175 points and 90 points respectively. FMCG and Healthcare also closed in positives.
In the Asian markets, Hang Seng was the top loser for the day, down by 66 points. Nikkei also lost 38 points. Taiwan Weighted, KOSPI and Shanghai Composite all closed in the red zone.
Buzzer: Wipro’s stock broke all its resistances on the higher side and closed above the technical level of Rs 510. If it continues to remain above this level, it may move up to the Rs 530 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Futures has good support around 6350 and 6320. If it sustains above this level, the index may touch the 6400 mark again.
