Nifty Sees Choppy Trades At Closing

The Bankex, Consumer Durables and IT indices registered some good positives. Nifty ended nominal higher by 10 points at 6278 and Sensex was 41 points up at 21074. Nifty Futures’ December series closed around the 6280 level today, indicating strength ahead.
The Indian markets witnessed choppy moves in today’s expiry closing session. Bankex, Consumer Durables and IT saw some good positives. Nifty ended nominal higher by 10 points at 6278 and Sensex was 41 points up at 21074. Both indices saw gains in the range of 0.17%-0.20%.
The advance-decline ratio on the NSE remained positive. 1949 shares closed in the green and 1282 shares were in red.
Top Nifty Gainers: Tata Power closed higher by 4.2% in today’s trades. Among the other stocks that remained in positives were ONGC, BPCL, HDFC Bank and Tata Steel.
Top Nifty Losers: Bajaj Auto closed lower by 2.05%, followed by Hero MotoCorp, Lupin, Ranbaxy Labs and PNB.
Most of the sectoral indices closed in the green zone. Bankex was a top gainer today, up by 69 points. Consumer Durables and IT both closed higher by around 30 points. Mid-Cap and Small-Caps were by 27 points and 74 points respectively. However, the Auto index closed negative by 56 points and Healthcare was down 30 points.
The Asian indices saw some sideways moves in today’s session. Nikkei was the strongest gainer, up by around 164 points. Taiwan Weighted and Straits Times both closed nominally higher. Shanghai Composite and KOSPI ended lower by 33 points and 2 points respectively.
Buzzer: Tata Power gained more than 4.2% on the bourses and closed at the technical level of Rs 89. If the stock continues to remain above this level, it may touch the Rs 100 mark in the next few sessions.
Nifty Futures’ December series closed around the 6280 level today, indicating a positive scenario ahead.
