Active Bulls Pulls The Markets Northward, Bank Stocks In Action

The impact of the Railway budget clearly showed its impact on the markets as Nifty and Sensex were both up by 28 and 104 points respectively. Bank stocks rose across the board, AXIS Bank (up 0.68%), HDFC Bank (up 0.62%) and ICICI Bank (up 2.97%). BPCL is leading the gainers list up by 2.74%.
The Indian markets carried on with its northward journey in the mid-session too after Interim Railway Budget 2014 presented by Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge who kept passenger fares unchanged. At present Nifty is trading up by 28 points to trade at 6091 and the Sensex is up by 104 points and is trading at 20468. Both the indices were seen trading higher by more than 0.50% each.
On the NSE, the advance-decline ratio is positive with 1661 advances and 1580 declines.
Top Nifty Gainers: BPCL is leading the gainer lists so far and is up by 2.74%. It is followed by GAIL, ONGC, ICICI Bank and Bank of Baroda.
Top Nifty Losers: Tata Steel is leading the losers list so far and is down by 3.07%. It is followed by Cairn India, Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki and Sesa Sterlite.
On sectoral, front 11 out of 13 sectoral indices are trading on a positive note. Bankex the top gainer is trading up by 118 points. It is followed by Capital Goods and Oil & Gas, which were up by 117 points and 112 points respectively. Mid-caps and Small-caps are also positive in this scenario and were higher by 15 points and 20 points respectively.
The Asian market continued to trade in green. Hang Seng is up by 329 points. It is followed by the Nikkei which is up 81 points. The Taiwan Index, Straits Times and KOSPI were trading on positive note too.
Buzzer: HCL Technologies scrip made a gain of 1.90% and made an intraday trade of 52 week high of Rs 1510.50.
Nifty Futures continue to trade with an uptrend and is trading around 6095 level which we had mention in our last update.
