Closing Bell: Sensex plunges 392 points, hit three-week low

The domestic stock market faced losses today as both the benchmark indices ended the trading session in red, hitting three-week lows, the lowest intraday levels recorded since February 3, 2020. S&P BSE Sensex was down by more than 392 points and closed at 39,888.96 levels, down by 0.97 per cent. Nifty too followed the trail by closing at 11,678.50, down by 1.01 per cent.

S&P BSE Sensex was down by more than 392 points and closed at 39,888.96 levels, down by 0.97 per cent. Nifty too followed the trail by closing at 11,678.50, down by 1.01 per cent.

The top five losers of S&P BSE Sensex are: Sun Pharma-down by 3.60 per cent, Maruti-down by 2.73 per cent, L&T-down by 2.43 per cent, Hero MotoCorp-down by 1.99 per cent and Infosys-down by 1.96 per cent.

S&P BSE Mid-cap erased gains by closing at 15,170.64 levels, down by 1.34 per cent while S&P BSE Small-cap plunged 0.82 per cent and managed to close at 14,329.07 levels. The top three losing small-cap stocks are: MSTC-down by 9.98 per cent, Lemon Tree-down by 8.35 per cent and RPP Infra-down by 8.13 per cent.

Meanwhile, the top three losing sectoral indices are: S&P BSE Realty-down by 2.16 per cent, S&P BSE Auto-down by 2.12 per cent and S&P BSE Capital Goods-down by 2.10 per cent.
