The barometer index S&P BSE Sensex gained 89 points to 58,387.93. Nifty 50 index rose mere 15.5 points and closed at 17,397.15 levels. On the broader market, S&P BSE Smallcap index jumped 20 points and ended at 267,605 and S&P BSE Midcap index scaled up by 20 points to the level of 24,479. Cement companies raised the most, thereby, boosting the market. Shree Cement and UltraTech Cement increased nearly 3 per cent each while ICICI Bank climbed more than 2 per cent when the market closed.
