In its July 24, 2026 result update, ICICI Securities retained its HOLD recommendation on Infosys. The broker cited sharply weaker organic-growth visibility and limited near-term earnings catalysts, despite reasonable valuations and resilient margins.

|---|---|
| Recommendation | HOLD |
| Target price | Rs 1,000 |
| CMP | Rs 1,022 |
| Valuation basis | 13 times FY28E EPS |

Infosys reported Q1FY27 revenue of US$5,082 million, up 0.8 per cent sequentially and 2.8 per cent year on year. On a constant-currency basis, revenue increased 1 per cent sequentially and 2.4 per cent year on year. Acquisitions contributed around 1.1 per cent to sequential growth.
Rupee revenue stood at Rs 48,211 crore, up 3.9 per cent sequentially and 14 per cent year on year. ICICI Securities said growth was below expectations despite Q1 being seasonally strong.
The quarter was affected by a one-off EURS programme termination, which had an impact of around 50 basis points, and lower revenue from a large European manufacturing client, with an impact exceeding 1 per cent. Softer volumes and a continuing shift to offshore delivery also weighed on growth. Management highlighted productivity pass-throughs and offshoring as structural drags on reported revenue growth.
Management lowered FY27 constant-currency revenue-growth guidance to 1.5-3.0 per cent from 1.5-3.5 per cent. The revised guidance includes around 1.7 per cent growth from the Optimum Healthcare and Stratus acquisitions, implying organic growth of only about 0.55 per cent at the midpoint, compared with approximately 2.2 per cent previously.
| Guidance and growth factor | Details |
|---|---|
| FY27 constant-currency revenue growth guidance | 1.5-3.0 per cent, versus 1.5-3.5 per cent previously |
| Acquisition contribution | Around 1.7 per cent from Optimum Healthcare and Stratus |
| Implied organic growth at midpoint | Around 0.55 per cent, versus about 2.2 per cent previously |
| European manufacturing client drag | Slightly above 1 per cent |
| Higher offshore delivery impact | 0.75-1.0 per cent |
Management said the lower end of the guidance range assumes further macroeconomic deterioration, while the upper end assumes some improvement. Demand remains cautious, discretionary spending is selective and customers are seeking measurable AI-led productivity and return on investment.
Q1FY27 EBIT margin was 21.1 per cent, up around 10 basis points sequentially and 30 basis points year on year. Currency, Project Maximus, amortisation and acquisition effects, and one-time cost benefits supported margins. These benefits were partly offset by higher AI sales and marketing investment, the programme-termination impact and other expenses.
Management retained FY27 EBIT-margin guidance of 20-22 per cent. The broker expects wage hikes, acquisition impact, AI investment and productivity pass-throughs to create headwinds. These are expected to be partly mitigated by Project Maximus, better utilisation, currency and a lower onsite mix.
Reported Q1FY27 PAT was Rs 7,769 crore, down 8.6 per cent sequentially but up 12.2 per cent year on year.
Large-deal total contract value was US$3.6 billion, up 12 per cent sequentially but down 4 per cent year on year. Net-new business improved to 61 per cent of TCV, and Infosys signed 22 large deals, including three deals worth around US$400 million each.
Vendor-consolidation wins and Financial Services activity provide support. However, ICICI Securities remains concerned that AI-driven productivity, offshoring and pricing pressure could weaken the conversion of bookings into near-term revenue.
Advanced AI revenue reached 8.2 per cent of revenue, compared with 5.5 per cent in Q3FY26. Topaz, AI-led modernisation and COBOL-to-cloud programmes showed traction.
North America and Europe grew 3.2 per cent and 2.8 per cent year on year, respectively, in constant-currency terms. India and Rest of World declined.
Management expects Financial Services and EURS to outperform the company average, while it remains cautious on Manufacturing, Retail and Communications.
ICICI Securities reduced its FY27E and FY28E US dollar revenue estimates by 0.7 per cent. It also cut FY27E and FY28E diluted EPS by 0.7 per cent and 0.8 per cent, respectively.
| Estimate | Revised figure | Revision |
|---|---|---|
| FY27E diluted EPS | Rs 74.7 | Down 0.7 per cent |
| FY28E diluted EPS | Rs 77.4 | Down 0.8 per cent |
