The Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50, ended higher by nearly 0.8 per cent on Wednesday, April 29, supported by strong stock-specific earnings-led buying. However, gains were partially restricted due to a sharp surge in crude oil prices after reports of a potential extension of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, which heightened global supply concerns.
The Nifty 50 opened on a firm note at 24,096.90 and quickly gained momentum, touching an Intraday high of 24,334.70. The index witnessed profit booking at higher levels, resulting in some volatility, although downside remained limited as it held above the 24,059.95 mark throughout the session. Eventually, the Nifty 50 closed higher by 181.95 points, or 0.76 per cent, at 24,177.65. Meanwhile, the Sensex jumped 609.45 points, or 0.79 per cent, to close at 77,496.36.

It has delivered returns of 47.99 per cent from its 52-week low, showing a steady recovery in price along with increased volume activity.
Devyani International Ltd traded higher, with the stock currently trading at Rs 127.5 against the previous close of Rs 112.17, up 13.67 per cent. The traded volume was about 5.74 crore shares, reflecting elevated activity. The stock remains below its 52-week high of Rs 191.
