Rs 79,999 Starting Price: Bhavish Aggarwal-Backed EV Maker Ola Electric Launches New S1Z Scooter With Indigenous LFP Battery Technology

On Friday, Indian equity benchmark NIFTY traded higher, gaining 13.00 points or 0.05 per cent to 24,103.85. Meanwhile, Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. was trading at Rs 38.45, up Rs 0.82 or 2.18 per cent. The stock outperformed the benchmark during the session after the company announced the launch of its new S1Z electric scooter range featuring its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology.

Ola Electric Launches New S1Z Electric Scooter Range

Ola Electric announced the launch of the all-new S1Z on August 28, 2026. The company described the S1Z as its first scooter range in India to bring its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology to the mass market.

The new scooter is available in two battery variants with 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh with introductory ex-showroom prices of Rs 79,999 and Rs 99,999, respectively. According to the company, the 3.1 kWh variant offers a range of up to 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh version can deliver up to 301 km under IDC conditions.

Indigenous Bharat Cell Technology at the Core

The S1Z brings Ola Electric's 46 series LFP cell platform technology, which was developed at the company's Battery Innovation Centre and is manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory. The company is targeting the value segment of India's electric two-wheeler market with the new product

Ola Electric said that developing and manufacturing its Bharat Cell LFP technology in-house has helped lower battery costs, which represent a significant component of an electric vehicle's overall cost. The company believes this vertical integration can help bring LFP battery technology to more affordable price points.

Deliveries to Begin From December 2026

The S1Z will be offered in four colours with White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green and will feature 12-inch wheels across variants.

Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant are scheduled to begin in December 2026, while deliveries of the 5.1 kWh variant are expected to commence from March 2027.

Technology and Connected Features

The S1Z will operate on MoveOS 5 and comes with features including cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS and over-the-air software updates. The scooter also includes geo, time and mode fencing, ride statistics and energy insights through the Ola Electric App.

Another feature highlighted by the company is 'Easy Park', which is designed to help users manoeuvre the scooter in tight parking spaces.

New Retail Expansion Strategy

The S1Z is also expected to play a role in Ola Electric's next phase of retail expansion. The company said the new product range will be the first to ramp up through its initial dealer-operated stores, expanding beyond its company-owned retail network.

According to Ola Electric, the move is intended to significantly increase access to its products across the country.
